The 1998 Attack on the Temple

In the year 1998, the temple was attacked by a group of anti social elements and partly destroyed the idle and temple belongings. This caused a lot of aggression among the fellow brothers of the community and lead to various consequences like a few riots, agitations, Dharna by the temple committee members along with all local leaders and requested the current state govt. to to take action against the people you have attacked and also give protection and safety of the temple.

The Telugu Desam Party which was the ruling government at that time, reacted instantly, Chief Minister Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Home Minister Mr. Madusudhan Reddy visited the temple and assured that the damage would be refurbished and the temple renovated under any cost. The TDP government then redirected the endowment department and regenerated the temple and also took measures for the safety of the temple.

Many of the prominent political leaders of the country including the Congress chief Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and the Congress General Secretary Mr. Gulam Nabi Azad also visited the temple during this time. Attacking the religious believes and faith of any community is the most unfortunate and barbaric thing possible and this is the one incident which the temple committee and the fellow brotherhood have tried to forget.
